These classes offer alternative, accelerated obedience training.
Accelerated Obedience Classes are designed to get the most out of training with your dog. We use a balance of positive reinforcement methods and corrective methods to work your dog through all basic commands, off-lead, and whistle training. These accelerated obedience classes will get results fast and will prepare your dog for becoming off-lead in 22 weeks. This course will be fast-paced and highly effective for most dogs.
This expedited course is perfect for dogs who have taken obedience classes but still have a problem with distractions or just do not want to follow through. You know those stubborn dogs, the who do not want treats or affection as rewards for performing for you. Most dogs will benefit from this course as it will be humanely taught with a focus on positive reinforcement. We will be requiring a prong collar for this training. If you have reservations, give us a call and we can explain exactly what we are going to be doing.
This course is designed to teach your dog boundaries so they can be off-lead in as little as 22 weeks.
*** This course is ONLY for dogs over 25 pounds, and six months of age who have passed Obedience I, or equivalent. ***
Whether you are a first-time pet parent, or you have shared your entire life with dogs, you will find success with this program!
During the accelerated program, you will be required to use a prong collar, keep a training journal, and be required to formally practice your homework for 2 hours during the week. That is 2 additional hours, aside from the one-hour a week in-class time and integrating the training into your already established routine. Please make sure you can commit to these practice sessions, and classes each week. If you fall behind or miss a class, you may be asked to join another class whose curriculum is on par with what you have missed. As inconvenient as this sounds, it is to ensure that all students can move forward at the pace that this class was designed for.

Your dog has troubled behaviors like lunging
Your dog has a reactivity disorder such as screaming at other dogs or at people
Your dog resource guards objects, food, or you
Your dog is full-out aggressive to people or other animals

This type of training can help build confidence in you and your dog as a team. You will better understand how to motivate your dog to achieve the desired results. You will learn to read your dog and be able to predict and redirect their behavior. Understanding how your dog communicates will enable you to communicate more efficiently and place your rewards and corrections at the right time, ensuring your dog understands exactly what you want. Timing is everything!
